Hi everyone, Yes, if you still remember me it’s Dave form south Florida. I’m still alive and kicking, just have been really busy with a lot of life’s little changes. I still have all my DBT and they are doing great. I have been reading a lot of the postings for the last 8- 10months when I get time. I got a new DBTa few months back that was rescued, she was found hit on a highway along the West coast. I managed to save her life but she lost her right back leg. State said I could keep her. My main reason for this posting is that I have been working a lot with Tortoises lately and have been studying and practicing my own veterinary medicine when it comes to most of my reptiles. I recently got into those beautiful little Golden Greek Tortoises and have been stumped by one. With many discussions in this group about shell rot and other shell problem I was wondering if anyone has heard of a land tortoise getting shell rot or a fungal infection. I bought a trio about 3 months ago and one of the females had a bad respiratory infection when I got her and well has a full assortment of internal parasites. Having cleaned her up of her respiratory infection and most if not all of her internal parasite I’m noticing the plastron of her shell is becoming discolored. The lower half of her plastron looks as if it is bleeding into the shell and appears to cause pain when I wash her. I’m currently treating it with Gentian Violet in hopes that this will clear it up. Any one in the group work with tortoises and have similar experiences? Thanks for all the great info and I hope to become a bit more active in the group as things start to calm down a bit around here.I also might be interested in trading a couple of my turtles for a young Marco female…..
