Hi there How can I best keep the water temperature up in the large Rubbermaid tub where I have my three hatchlings? Would an under-tank heater do? Should the temp go down at night? And, I set up with a clamp light from the hardware store, but today I saw Zoo Med porcelaine clamp lights for 19 to 29 dollars. Is there some reason I should buy the Zoo Med lamp? Thanks guys, Donna
diamondback_terrapinAugust 21, 2002 at 12:52 am #17602Hi Donna, The best way to regulate the temperature is probably with an aquarium heater. However, heating the water above room temperature is usually not necessary with terps unless you desire faster growth or are dealing with sick ones. I’m not real sure what the benefits of a Zoo Med porcelain lamp are, if any. I really don’t see anything wrong with a hardware store clamp light. Chun Tail Moderator

The spot concentrates the heat better than a regular bulb.
