My tank seems to be doing fine. Clear water, no major issues with ammonia or ph and stuff, but I can’t seem to figure out how to deal with stopping the odor. It doesn’t seem bad at all when I’m down working on the tank, I assume because I’ve gotten used to it at that point, but you can sure smell it every time I leave and come back. I primarily use AquaClears, 2 300s, and have even gone to the lengths of putting in a UG filter, mainly because I house other fish in there with my terrapins (cichlids, a few oscars, 2 catfish, and a handful of feeder fish), and that helps keep things clean, but I need something to stop the waste. My first question for those of you who use AquaClears is which is better for stopping the odor, the Carbon inserts or the Zeocarb stuff? I’ve been told the Zeocarb is by the local pet store, but I’m not really sure. Secondly, is there any kind of fish/dbt-safe stuff I can get to do a quick fix? I do frequent water changes, and that helps to a certain extent, but not by itself, and with fish, I can’t just do a 100% change like before, not that I relish such a task with a 75-gallon tank… Any help is appreciated.
