I want to thank everyone who emalied me about the what appeares to have been something fungal on two of my ornate yearlings chins. One should be ready to go back with the group tomorrow and the other maybe a day or two longer. I did find that I had to sort of improvise as I found that dry docking was causing dehydration or heat loss. If I used a heat lamp without water then well I would face dehydration again. I did treat the two in seperate containers. I applied betadine then when dried the iodine. I dry docked them for at least 2 hours after every application, with a day light/heat bulb or a night light/heat bulb. The rest of the time I allowed them a couple inches of water and they ate normally. The first 2 nights I did a complete dry docking after medicine application. I saw dehyration, their scutes seemed to appear sunken in. Whether dehydrated or not. I used it as an alarm and decided to just dry dock three times during the day after each application of meds. I did treat the water with part of a marycyn 2 tablet the first 2 days, also treating the big nighttime sleep tank that most of my yearlings use. I also did two complete water changes during that time. All getting feshwater during the day in their outdoor pools. Being a stay at home mom allows me some flexibility to their care. Both look great now it is barely noticible on one of them. I do appreciate this group. Being new to terrapins you guys were great and I have met so many great people. I thought I knew so much, having raised spotteds and still raising sulcata’s but I was wrong, terrapins are so unigue as I am finding out but also such a joy. Thanks everyone, Lisa
