Ben, I just finished weighing my group of DBTs and discovered that a small female I received in trade last Sept.(just one year ago) that weighed 173 grams now weighs 743 grams. That is a weight increase of 630 grams in just one year. She already weighs more than B.B. a female that layed 3 clutches this year. So you can see that even if you start out with a hatchling it won’t be long until it is egg laying size. I keep her outside in a tub and her main diet is trout chow. I will try to get a photo of her but she isn’t used to being handled much so she disappears into the water when I show up. Vickie
