my dbt beavis snaps his jaw and makes a loud clicking noise but no one can tell me why?anyone else have a dbt that doese that?its realy odd.thanks
It’s a mating call. I take it Beavis is a male DBT? (You can tell gender by length of the tail, females have short tails, males long ones, female DBTs are also larger than males) It means your turtle is now settled in enough to be confident in letting out calls. Hi, Diamondback terrapins are don’t make any kind of mating call. Males will harass the females into breeding but they don’t do it vocally. They have very powerful jaws it might be his/she is just yawning and when it closes her jaw it makes a noise. Many of my diamondback terrapins yawn but I have never heard a clicking noise when they do it. I have seen many female DBTs with over grown jaws and it is possible they might make a noise when they are closed, if the upper jaw is rubbing against the lower jaw.
