Hi everybody, I just found a new place that sells cork wood, which can be used for turtles and reptiles. It’s called the East Bay Vivarium. Man…when I walked in there, it was like heaven to me. They have cork wood the size of a tree, over 10 feet tall, UNCUT. They said they can cut them to any size you want. These are natural cork wood, come straight from trees. I have always seen cork wood in a curvature shape like it is cut from the outer layer of a tree, but these guys have them in flat sheets also, which probably come from HUGE trees!!! They vary in thickness from 1″ to 3″. They use them mainly for their snakes and lizards, but you can use them for turtle landings. Cork wood is very resistant to mildew and algea growth in water. I checked their website, but I don’t see any pictures of the cork wood. I know some of you guys would love to see them. I’ll probably post some pics up on my website of a few I bought today. I don’t know how many of you live around the bay in California, but if you want to buy some, you can probably call them and ask if they ship them. Their number is 510-841-1400. Just a note, because of the rarity of the size of these woods, they can be quite costly. A flat sheet about 12″ by 16″ by 2.5″ can go up to $30 easily. I bought a few myself, I just couldn’t control myself for the sake of my turtles. I will post some pics within a few days on my website, http://www.geocities.com/uniqueturtles -James
