Our diamondback turtle is 5.5 years old. She lives inside in our house in an acquarium that is on a table and looks out the windows. She also has full roam of this large, sunny room that has a wall of windows and skylights. Every year in the fall she stops eating for 4- 6 weeks. This year she is on her 5th week of not eating. She does not hybernate due to the warm, sunny room, the heater in her tank, and the light on her tank which we keep lit from about 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day. Does anyone else experience this? Should we be continuing to coax her to eat each day? Should we be worried? Each night at feeding time, we put her in her feeding tank and try to get her to eat turtle pellets, fresh shrimp, scallops, smelts, tuna, salmon, etc. She puts her nose on it but is not interested in eating. The vet said she looks great color wise and weight wise. She is a very sweet, very interactive little character, more like a puppy dog than a turtle! Thanks for any info. Denise and Chuck dbcb@…
