Hey everyone this is the first time I am asking a question so mmm yea…. Here I go. I have a 2 year old DBT female about 4 1/2 inch. And I just got a common snapping turtle that is about the same size but with a bigger head. The question I want to asks is. Can I keep both my DBT and my CST together? Also, I have a 40 gallon 36″ by 18″ tank that I want to put both of them together in.. But just in case. I have a 25 gallon hexagon tank that is 35 inches deep. I want to know will they fight with each other. My CST isn’t very aggressive. Neither is my DBT. And both is well feed. Can someone give me any advice.

Hi Francis,I would advise not to keep them together. Your terrapin will do best in a 70 gallon and above (my 2 year old female DBT is in a 110 gallon stock tank) and your snapper will need a much larger setup. Do you have the space and money to invest in a couple of stock tanks? Karen

The 25 gallon “tall” is too small to house either of your turtles. Stock tanks are more affordable than aquariums and can be purchased at a local feed store. Best of luck!Karen

Attachments :No. chances are overwhelming the snapper will attack the DBT, and no quarter shown. Don___t keep snappers with anything else. Best is one to a tank.Of course, the downside to keeping turtles as pets is the housing requirement. A suitable outdoor pond is best. Frankly, I___ve never seen and indoor set up I considered attractive, not to mention the work involved. It___ not like a fish tank. And the critters live a long time and grow, sometimes huge, as is the case with the snapper. Then you have to problem what to do with it.
