I am getting a lot of inquirers about the diamondbacks rescued today. There are a lot of them. My housemate is a long term herper and choose the healthiest ones. They do not look like typical foodmarket animals. Their condition is good to excellent. They are also very pretty. All are adult females. It’s really sad that they can’t be released but because they are foodmarket animals they must stay in captivity. It breaks my heart not to just walk down the street and release them back where they belong. So this is the deal. Long Lived Reptiles Rescue (my housemates org) paid 10 dollars a piece for them. Normally I would not go along with an adoption fee but the money they recupe will go for getting more out. This is not the pet trade. This is saving the fate of an animal that will be chopped up alive. Their flesh will be ripped off their bodies while preserving their heartbeat for freshness. It’s an awful fate for these animals. If you would like to adopt one or more it will be 10 dollars. The 10 dollars will purchase one more and you save the fate of two. I know a lot of people will not agree with this but it’s a choice. There is no real answer but if you look into their eyes you know you are doing the right thing by getting them out of there. My housemate bought 370 dollars worth of them so there are plenty. No matter what they face in captivity it’s nothing compared to what they will face in the soup pot. So if you would like one and don’t mind paying the 10 dollars to rescue the next one please send me an email. You will be responsible for shipping costs too. I will honor the adoption applications for any organization so if someone in your organization want one with an approved application you can get some for them. If you do not want one but would like to donate 10 dollars and save the life of one we will match your 10 dollars and still save two. Email me at llgrn1987@… or LLreptilerescue@… (Jason Fabbi). Feel free to pass this onto anyone you know that would be interested. Lori Green Director, Turtle Homes
