ok guys… i got 7 eggs and 5 of them hatched. first 3 were good. but 4th one had a bad scute… no worries but that one died 2 days later.. then the fifth one hatched.. when it hatched i found it kinda wierd looking at first then i realized that the scute was really deformed and the scary part is that he or she doesn’t have any eyes! no eyeballs at all! what should i do guys? i feel so bad for it…it’s doing ok in the tank… but i don’t know if i should keep it…
Lack of eyes, and two headedness are very common in nearly all species of turtles. It’s a sad thing, but the turtle is still perfectly capable of living out it’s life thanks to it’s other senses. If you’re afraid of the turtle, I suggest you try selling it, rather than harming it. I think there’s a niche market out there now of buyers seeking turtles with abnormal deformities such as two heads. Take a look on Kingsnake.com.
