Hi everyone, Wanted to delurk and say hi — I’ve been enjoying all the conversation for the past two months and have learned a tremendous amount in such a short period of time! My boyfriend Alex and I got two Chesapeake hatchlings from Rich at the beginning of September and they are thriving…we just love them and every night we just sit on chairs in front of the tank and watch them go. Alex is the herp expert in our house and he’s taught me all about turtles and how to care for them, and we spent a good couple weeks just working on our tank and getting it set up just right. I’ve posted some pix of our babies in the Photos folder on Yahoo — look for “Alex & Joya’s DBTs”. They were taken before the tank was done, but I’ll post some tank shots later this week. We’re hoping to add a couple Ornates or Concentrics soon as it seems we just can’t get enough of the little guys…boy those Ornates are hard to come by! They’re Alex’s favorites, and it seems everyone else’s too ๐ Anyway thanks to everyone for all the tips and to the breeders for sharing their wonderful creatures with us! Joya Los Angeles, CA
Hi Joya and Alex, Welcome to the group! Glad to find more terrapin enthusiasts in Southern California! Nice pics of your chesapeakes – whoever took them must have real steady hands! — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “Joya Balfour”
