Hi everyone, I recently acquired a hatchling with an odd disease/virus. Here are the symptoms: 1.) White spots/blotches on the skin all over the body. 2.) Doesn’t eat and just basks. 3.) Continuous droppings are WHITE and filmy even when no food is going into the body. 4.) Losing body weight continuously. 5.) Contagious, spreads to other terrapins in the same tank. 6.) Eventually dies. When the white spots/blotches are scrapped off, they return in a day or two. Seems to me like it’s some kind of internal infection. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I wasn’t able to find any type of reptile or turtle disease/virus on the internet with this type of symptoms. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Jim

A vet should culture this and the likely treatment will be IM Baytril. In the mean time an antibiotic water treatment like Mardel’s Maracyn-Two (at full strenght in small aquarium) will help. Ample sun light basking will improve the condition AFTER the turtles are healthy enough to bask. Dimitri
