Hello everyone, Here is the response from the graduate student at Duke regarding accepting blood samples from the diamondback terrapin e-group. Christopher,
That would be fantastic! We’re anticipating doing a rangwide study so
any ‘bonus’ samples would be great!
Please email me if you’d like to have your terrapins DNA analyzed. Please specify how many of each sub-species and location data (i.e. wildcaught at Marsh Point, MS ’94, or wildcaught near Brownsville, TX, or captive bred – Basically the specifics on the background of the terrapin. Kristen has large sample sizes from wild populations of centrata in Beaufort, NC macrospilota in Tampa Bay and macrospilota? / rhizophorarum? at Cape Sable to compare your terrapins with. Cheers, Christopher
