Several of my terrapins have developed a taste for escarole and chicory. They are this season’s rescues from Chinatown. I have a little male that is captive bred and he has always enjoyed a little nibble here and there. Maybe being in the their outside pond sort of triggers the behavior. Who knows. Just nice to get a little extra variety into them. Hopefully the others will follow suit.

Steve, I tried water hyacinths with my terps once and they decimated them. At first I thought that they were simply climbing on them and thrashing them but then I noticed leaves that had chunks bitten off them. I have since also noticed hatchlings take to anacharis as their first food source upon hatchling. -Stephen C — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “Steve”
