I have been having a problem lately with a couple of my females. They are laying their eggs in the water. One laid twelve eggs and the other has dropped a few. Last year they both laid ok. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I have too many in one 100-gallon tub (7 large females). I was forced to put them around after I got my new Texas terrapins. Two other turtles in the same tub nested late month with out dropping any in the water and the two that dropped have been in the same tub for almost a year. Big Mama was the one that dropped twelve eggs and she gets out of the water and basks everyday. The other one is Lori, she too spends a lot of the day basking as do most of my turtles. They are both Northern. Since they started dropping the eggs I have lowered the water temperature, changed the water, and lowered the salt level. I would appreciate any advice I could get.
