fluval 304 issues.. suprised?!?

Ok so i received a fluval 304 ugh.. i know. the pump seems to be off a little. it isnt pumping strong and seems to only be releasing a trickle out of the output pipe. it is all new hoses, i cleaned out the impeller housing and it doesnt sound like it is dying. i shook it a bit incase there was any trapped air causing an issue in the siphon. i figured the impeller is bad but im not sure. anyone dealt with this?!? I know fluval isnt the best out there, but for 20$ it was worth replacing one or 2 parts.
