Attachments : Hello all, I’ve spent a great deal of time e-mailing Helms about various care issues that go along with DBT’s. He has made his recommendation before about what water salt to use to make the brackish water these animals are naturally found in. As most of you have read, he most recently made me clear of the brand as well. Although I don’t have my group of DBT’s yet, I think it best to choose caution with most animals I set up and purchase the many tools essential to care for these wonderful creatures beforehand. So off to the grocery store I went. I found a solar salf for water softners made by Morton. It’s 99.5% pure and there is no added chemicals. For all who were needing maybe a specific brand to choose from I have provided a few pictures to illustrate what to look for. This type of Morton Solar Salt is not a pellet or disc, but a dried form of sea salt in crystal form. You can find this for a grand total of $4.71 at your local grocery stores. This is the purest salt Icould find as Helms recommended not to use disc or pellets. Again, I hope this helps many of you out on your search to find the right salt. Take care all,Branden __________________________________________________Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Branden, Thanks for that informative email about the salt. I made some explorations myself coupla years ago, after I got two Texans from Jonathan, but never found anything I could use. Nor did I know exactly what I was looking for. Now I know. Most helpful. I started using Instant Ocean (very pricey), then switched to Pond Salt from Reptile Direct, which was still $3.49 for 65 oz. Keeping several large dbt’s in brackish demands a certain economy. Dick
