hatchling breathing thru mouth… as if yawning…

Can you take an illegal turtle to the vet? I have a hatchling that I understood isn’t supposed to be sold because it’s under 4 in. But he’s breathing thru his mouth and I’m worried. Terry said his died shortly after he noticed the “yawns”.
If you are worried take him to the vet. I found both my dbts at the beach (well, on the road and in the garage) and they were the size of a quarter or smaller. I don’t even think the vet will ask but you could always just say you found him. I found my in Brigantine, NJDonatelloDiamond
