I haven’t heard many responce to the question that Chun posted. Q: What causes diamondbacks’ shells to lose their melanin and become ash white? What can be done to remedy this? A: I really don’t know what cures it other than sun and time. But here are some pictures that might help everyone get a better idea of what we are talking about. http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/diamondbackterrapins/lst?.dir=/Jo nathan% 27s+Diamondback+Terrapins/Haze+on+carapace&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.do ne=http%3a//photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/diamondbackterrapins/lst% 3f.dir=/Jonathan%2527s%2bDiamondback%2bTerrapins%26.src=gr%26.view=t If the link doesn’t work the photos can also be found in the Photos section of the egroup (NOT the files section) under Jonathan’s Diamondback Terrapin folder and then go to the folder marked Haze on Carapace. All responces are welcome. Thanks Jonathan The Scute Moderator http://www.geocities.com/diamondbackterrapins

When you power feed dbt the shell will out grow the melanin. The black will catch up with age. The yellows and orange will remain faded unless you have them out doors as Rick suggested with his. No real concern. bbm — In diamondbackterrapins@y…, “Jonathan Helms”

Whoops, Jonathan’s picts are a different ordeal than growth alone. The dbt you pictured is shedding scutes. Several of the marginals and a couple of coastals should come off now. This will prevent them from getting fungus under them. BBM
