Hi everyone: There are something white in my terrapin’s shell as benson’s photo ablum and they looks like white paint. Is it a disease and how to prevent it? The most importmant, how to remedy it? Thanks a lot. best regard benson__ԕ__Mail_____ԕ__Message __________ Yahoo!______Messenger6.0
Hi Benson, I have seen that before, I call it shell haze but I don’t know what the real term is. I have seen this on more than just dbts. I think it is some kind of fungus. I have noticed that some dbts that don’t bask or that are housed in dirty water are much more likely to get it. If it is not spreading it might not be active any more. My suggestion would be to dry dock him for 48 hours and change out his water. Also you can try a Acriflavin soak. Mix in about one table spoon into 3 gallons of water and let him soak for 24 hours and then dry dock him for 48. Once it is not active it will still be on his shell until his sheads his scutes which should be a couple of years. Jonathan http://www.diamondbackterrapin.com —
