what other sort of “hiding areas” do any of you use besides plants? instead of sleeping on the basking rock, my turtle likes to scrunch up in a crevice next to the rock and sleep _underwater_ (this might be a sign of illness, probably from her recent shell rot infection). she still basks but very rarely, it’s very odd — – Chun Min Shen “We must learn to live together as brothers,

Actually, it is often sick terrapins that avoid the water. Not all terrapins that sleep on dry land are sick, obviously, but it is more common for terps to sleep underwater. Often, terps will refuse to bask if the temperature on the land is cooler than the water. -Stephen — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, Jimmy Shen
