There are many reasons why I don’t think it would be a good idea… one would be temperament….. red eared sliders are notorous for being especially aggressive…. now a map turtle and a diamondback I would give my concent to but a res and a map turtle…… i dunno….. how big is your tank for one? What type of filtration do you have…. sliders can get very large and so can maps and female diamondbacks aren’t small either…. what happens if all three of them turn out to be females? Not to mention you would still need to quarantine your diamondback a couple of months before adding him with the other two … three different species with of course the maps being the only other known species with a common care of the diamondback. I am sure others on here may mention they keep their red eared slider with a diamondback but they are the exception not the rule and I would tread lightly adding a diamondback with it…… I am not getting after you (sorry if it sounds that way) but this is my opinion. And just a few things to think about before getting a diamondback…. is there anyway you could seperate them out and just keep the diamondback seperate from the other two or could you move the red eared slider? michaela

I would say that would not be a good idea. RES are very aggressive and DBTs have soft skin. Disease would be a concern. And, in my experience, the water conditions for dbts and maps are not anywhere near the same. Of course, by opinion and a buck will get you a cup of coffee at a cheap restaurant. Hi, I currently house two DBT and one dwarfed RES together. The RES I got from a rescue and he is tiny, under 4″…something is wrong with him. I haven’t had any problems with them living together. Actually the RES likes to climb on top of my larger DBT and bask in the light, which makes for a neat picture. Then again, my RES is significantly smaller than the two DBTs. They all live in a 150 gallon tank with some large goldfish and smaller feeder fish for them to chase. I know nothing of the skin diseases or water conditions though.
