Hi everyone, I posted a few weeks back about how my turtles were not basking during the day due to activity in the room– I tried putting a hand towel infront of the basking area to block the view and my turtles have responded wonderfully to this now basking during the day ( thanks for the advise!) — but the one that was acting sluggish and not eating is acting even worse now… She has not eatin now for a month or so – yesterday she grabbed a pellet but starting pawing at her mouth alot and spit it out and did not try to eat again- -The other two turtles are just fine -Water temp at 78 ish -no visible abnormalities -she is about 5yrs old – Basks for apx. 8 or so hrs a day – Turts eat mix of Chicled sticks, dried krill, fresh raw shrimp, a tad of reptomin – Water is clean and they live in a 120G- plenty of room…. I dont know what to do at this point and Im scared that she is going to become very ill if she dosent start eating.-Her beak appears to be in good condition and does not look overgrown.- Any ideas???– — Thanks much, Heather

Heather, it does sound like she may have come down with something. This time of the year, some terps will want to sleep no matter what the temperatures but for her to not have eaten for a month points to some other issue. Best to get her to a vet and get some bloodwork done. Prior to the appointment, you can try increasing the temperature to 82-84F and see if this triggers her appetite any. -Stephen C — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “wezelegingrich”

Hi Stephen, Ill raise the temp a bit.- I was trying to avoid taking her to the vet but it is starting to seem as if she may need a check up.- I have some reptile appetite stimulent that I may try to give her if I can get her mouth open. – I was thinking it was the change in season that made her less active but she is deffinitly not acting like herself.- I have only had her for about 7 moonths now though.- Thank you, Heather — Stephen Chew http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
