Hi group, I’ve been a member for a while now, but never posted a message. I just want to know if anyone knows which species of diamondbacks are illegal in which states. Or does it not matter on the subspecies of diamondbacks. Is there like a map or table showing this information? I currently have Northerns, Texas, Concentric, and Ornates. Information greatly appreciated. Thank, -James

James, Each state has their own laws about keeping diamondback terrapins. As far as I know none of them discriminate between subspecies. For example in Florida you can only have two terrapins without a permit and you are not allowed to breed them. I believe in New Jersey you are not allowed to keep them I know you are not allowed to sell them there. Also North Carolina has a band on selling any turtle. You would have to check with your state’s Fish and Wildlife Dept. If your not on the east coast your state most likely doesn’t have any laws about keeping or selling them.
