    Mine lost two scutes near his neck last week. It is all white where the scute was lost. I reviewed some of the past postings on this topic but no one seemed to have a definitive answer on what caused or cured this. Did anyone’s lost scute grow back?

    I had a similar situation a few years ago with a small terrapin. One of the back marginal scutes came off and the bone was exposed. I saw another terrapin biting at this spot so I am not sure what came first, the scute falling off or the biting. Anyhow, I put that terrapin in an isolated tank and kept the water brackish rather than fresh. In just a couple of weeks where the bone had been exposed it was completely covered in a grey (skin color) new healthy tissue. Then slowly after several months this area turned darker and harder like the surrounding carapace. It is completely healed. ,Jasonmorton57
