hey everyone, I haven’t checked this group in a while because my little guy has been doing great, I used to come here with questions and everyone was so helpful! well now I have another question: My boyfriend works for Innovative Stone and he was thinking of cutting up some marble slabs to make something for my turtles tank; my dad said this wasn’t a good idea, and that marble dust isn’t healthy… If he can’t use marble, what other stone can he use? I told him I can just get slabs from the aquarium supply store, like I’ve done before, but being the man he is he feels some need to get him something. haha what should he use?
I don’t see why marble after it has been cut and washed thoroughly wouldn’t be just fine….just one man’s opinion. rcftx
is it “cultured” marble for vanity tops or real marble?… the cultured marble is marble particles and epoxy – that sort of dust would be dangerous… real marble would probably not be a problem although if it’s polished it is VERY slippery when wet… it’s fairly durable and non-reactive, they use it for stirring chips in beakers… it will get pitted if the water is very acidic… if your water’s neutral and the surface is rough enough for toeholds it would probably be very pretty — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “rcftx”
