Hi gang. I am getting caught up on reading older posts and came across “do not get marine salt for saltwater aquariums.” This was included in a post regarding use of Acriflavin. Can someone clarify exactly what brand or type to use for general upkeep of slightly brackish tanks ? I have been using marine salt out of a box, purchased at a herp store, recommended by the owner of the store. If I have missed something, my apologies. Bob, the reference was to a situation where a hatchling had a moderate case of fungal infection. Brackish water is not necessary for C.B. terrapins so the intent was to just slightly salt the water with rock salt to prevent further infection since Acriflavin was also being used at the time. Marine salt for saltwater tanks is perfectly ideal for brackish water but would have been overkill in this situation. Hope this clears things up. Any brand of marine salt is sufficient. Most keepers use rock salt for brackish water in lieu of marine salt strictly because of the costs associated with marine salt. -Chun — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, bob whittier
