I stopped by a feed store a little further from home today and found the new Mazuri consumer-size diets displayed including Fresh Water Turtle pellets. I bought two 0.5 lb cans for $4.99 each to try. I got the dealer to call his supplier and order me two bags of this. The bags will be $18.00 to $20.00 each. We were talking 50 lb sacks, so I am expecting 50 lbs for that price. But even if it turned out to be only 25 lbs, it would still be cheap. The dealer didn’t know Turtle came in bulk sacks and he started laughing when his supplier quoted him the bag price. he actually shook his head and wondered aloud why 0.5 lbs in a little can is $4.99!? I popped a can open tonight and so far all species of my turtles have gone after the round pellets. My initial observations are that the Turtle Diet is much less odorous than Aquamax Carnivorous fish pellets. It doesn’t seem to stain the water like the Aquamax and so far the few uneaten pellets seem to be holding together in the tanks awaiting cleanup. Most of the pellets floated. About one fourth sank within five minutes. All in all, I’d say this will be a good staple if I can actually take delivery of those sacks this time. The analysis is available online at http://www.Mazuri.com. I will still buy Turtle Brittle for my mud and musks who appreciate it all sinking to the bottom. Todd in Texas
