media for fluval filter ….also, do turtles shed their skin?

i think it is time for me to change my filter media (fluval 204). when i got the filter, i just used the media that came with it. i have noticed that the water isn’t as clear (need carbon) and that i probably need to change some stuff. what media do you recommend for #1–the bottom tray #2– the middle tray and #3– the top tray?? also, i am using a 55 gallon rubbermade tub and have a spot light on the basking area and a UVB light over the tub, but it doesn’t light the tub very well. it seems like it’s always dark on the other side. do diamondbacks like it dim in there, or do they like light?? one more thing, i noticed my 4 or 5 inch terrapin had skin coming off of her. do turtles shed? if so, is there something i should be doing to help? if not, then what could it be? she is very healthy. thanks alot!! Since I have a Rena Filstar and not a Fluval, I can’t answer your first question, but as for shedding, yes, that’s perfectly normal.
