Subject: Meeting to prepare response to Maryland DNR proposed Terrapin Regulations The National Aquarium in Baltimore (NAIB) has graciously agreed to host a meeting to organize comments on Maryland___s proposed terrapin regulations. Anyone interested in attending must respond to turtles@… by Wednesday morning in order to be placed on the Admissions List. The meeting will be on Wednesday, July 5th from 6-9 pm at NAIB, Pier 3/ 501 E. Pratt St, Baltimore, MD 21202. A packet of information will be posted on Monday evening, or is available before then by email request to stanleyrb1@…. With a 10-fold increase in terrapin harvest over the last two years, and a 75% decline in terrapin population documented at the Patuxent River estuary, the need for greater protection than provided for in the proposed regulations should be clear.
