Sorry guys I know this is a terrapin sight but mine aren’t born yet. I recently purchased a 2.5″ Texas Map. I’ve had him for 3 days and have not seen him bask once, he just swims, swims, and swims. He’s done laps constantly, I have a turtle dock floating in the 200 gal aquarium. I have about 9″ water. 250 watt ebo jager heater keeping temp @ 76-78 degrees. Bask temp 85-90 degrees and over all temp 80 degrees. Please let me know if I should worry or if he’s adjusting from the pet store transition. He has no trouble eating. (guppies, ghost shrimp, blood worms, romain lettuce, he even snags the placostymus’s algae wafers, sometimes reptomin) Thanks in advance Isaac

If temps are as you noted and water is clean, then chances are your map just needs to get used to its new environment. You will probably see the same type of behavior with your new terrapins as well – nothing to be alarmed at! -Chun — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “plagueguitarist”
