I dont know if anyone can help me, but I figured this is the best place to look because everyone here seems to really know a lot about the dbt and can care for them a great deal. I have three dbt that are almost a year old. the problem is that I dont think I am going to be able to keep them and was wondering if anyone here would like to adopt the little guys. I would like the three of them to stay together and not be split up because they seem to get along very well. This is really hard for me because I have had them since they hatched and have developed somewhat of an attachment, I know that sounds silly, but I figured you guys could relate. There names are Simon, Garfunkel and Sherbert. I think Sherbert is a male and the other two are females, but I could be totally wrong on that because I dont know much about sexing the turtles, but looking at there tails I think this is what I have. I dont know if anyone can help, but any information would be great. I am not looking for any money, just a good home. Thank you ,Lisa

Lisa, I am sure you won’t have any trouble finding someone who will adopt them from you here at this forum. Do you happen to know what subspecies they are? This may help: http://www.geocities.com/dterrapin/genus/ ,Jason — prazy2002 http://www.hotjobs.com

If they’re a year, you ought to be able to sex them. The males have tails that are REALLY thick at the base and the vent (hole) in the tail is way past the shell (closer to the tip of the tail). Females have shorter, thinner tails, and the vent may not even be past the edge of the shell. The DBTs don’t form attachments with each other. They wouldn’t care if they get split up. Also, somebody might say, “Yeah, I’ll take all three” and then split them up anyway. You have no control then… I would be interested in taking a female (I already have a male). Do you have any pictures? Do you know the variety (Northern, Concentric (Carolinan), Ornate, Texan, etc)? Where do you live, or would you ship them? I live on Long Island, I know I definately have a male, but I will have to check about the other two. I dont have pictures, but if you want I could take pictures of them. I am also not sure of the origin. The male is not very colorful he is a dark green color. The other two are quit colorful. I dont know if that helps you out any. Lisa Glaeser Walt-P55431 wrote:
