I’ve been having a problem with one of my terrapins for some time now, and nothing I can do has been able to change things. I have a 240 gallon tank that has been housing 8 Terps, 4 male and 4 female, most of whom have been together for the last 5-6 years since they were hatchlings. This male was sold to me as a ‘High White Chesapeake’ 5 1/2 years ago, and has always been something of a runt. He topped out at a little over 3″ shell length, which I’d actually always found to be kind of endearing. Long story short, almost a year ago, he started showing aggressive tendencies towards one of the other males. I’m not sure if it’s just posturing for the ladies or what, but he started biting the other one in the top of the neck, and now routinely tries to bully him any chance he can get. I’ve tried extended isolation periods in a smaller tank by himself, I’ve tried snatching him out and putting him over in a nearby shower as soon as I see the attacks happening, but nothing I have tried seems to get the behavior to stop. He’s been fine with all the other terps, I just can’t figure out why it’s just this one other male he focuses on. Regardless, the time has come to part ways. I’ve been asking around with people locally I know, but no one wants to take him in, so I figured this might be a good place to start. I don’t know anything about shipping terrapins, as I’ve never done that before, but I’d like to find a new home for him. Please contact me if you are interested (apshaiTerp[at]yahoo.com), or if there is some other place you know of more appropriate to try and sell him, I’d be happy to oblige. I’m happy to send pictures for anyone interested. Thanks, Adam Carter

I would definitely take him!! I’ve been looking for a diamondback since we’ve moved (used to own 12). There won’t be any other turtles in the tank I’d have him in. My zip code is 64158, would pay for shipping if he’s still available. Thank you kindly,–Brittany

Thanks for the responses. I have several people who have already expressed interest in him, so I don’t think I need any more help. It’s awesome to know that there are folks out there willing to help out. Thanks guys!
