Hi Everyone! I have a new little guy! He was found in a garage at the Jersey shore near where my first dbt was found. The thing is, I just got him last night from my friends, and they found him back in September. They have been keeping him in a small enclosure with sand and water, and have been putting him in a separate bowl to eat (brine shrimp and pellets) but no one has seen him eat yet! It has been months! He is so tiny – his shell is only about the size of a nickle – but he seems to move around OK. He climbs in and out of the water bowl, and crawls around on the sand and shells. My question is, how long can he go without eating? I have tried raw shrimp and salmon but he doesn’t seem interested. Is it possible that he has an internal clock that tells him it is winter and time to hibernate (altho he’s indoors)? I ask because my other dbt, who has been a champion eater, is eating less and less as we go into winter. Also, what happens if I just can’t get the new guy to eat anything at all? He is so tiny I don’t think I could pry open his mouth. Could I let him swim around in some cold chicken broth? He is so cute!! I really want him to grow up and be friends with Shelby! Thanks, Nicole
