Hello all, My name is Shannon and this is my first time posting to this list. I have a male ( I think) diamondback terrapin who isn’t quite a year old yet. I call him Sid. I’ve had Sid for about 9 months now and up until now he’s been relatively healthy. Just this past Sunday night I noticed Sid basking alot more than usual and upon a closer look it looked like he was blowing some bubbles out of hs mouth. I decided to let it go overnight and to see how he was in the morning. Well, the next morning and for the rest of the week he appeared to be fine. Just last night again I noticed the same behavior plus this time his eyes were a little runny. So, I set him up in a different tank, upped the temp, included his basking light and some food and water if he wanted it and kept him there overnight. This morning I put him back in his normal tank with the water in it to see how he would react and he seems to be acting pretty normal. There’s no more bubbles coming out of his mouth and from what I can see his eyed seem tohave cleared up a bit. I’m assuming he has a cold, unless someone here can tell me otherwise. My big problem is that the vets in my area don’t deal with turtles, especially one so young. I want to do everything I can to keep him well and I have to do that as effectively as possible without the help of a vet. Does anyone know what I can do to help him? Can he get better without the use of antibiotics? Would pedialyte help? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!
