Attachments :Dino close up.jpgHello,I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on with Dino, my 8 year old DBT. We live in LA, so her hibernation is not full-on. She’s getting back to being more and more active. I’m concerned about her eating though. She’s apparently interested and chases after food, but when she gets it, she always spits it out. I’ve tried vegetables, krill, even chicken liver bits as I’ve read they are a good source of vitamin A. Additionally, Dino makes hissing sounds which has never occured before. I’m noticing that she doesn’t close her beak anymore. I’ve attached a picture of her face to show her mouth area.Looking around to find a vet who can do a check-up, but if anybody here has any thoughts, please share!! Dino loves her food and, unless this is normal behavior, I’m worried. Thank you!!Lexie and Dino

Hi. Sorry to hear about your tort… Perhaps it’s a cold? Beak not closing sounds like metabolic bone disease, but I honestly don’t know. Wishing you the bestest!

I am in Illinois (NW suburbs) and will be moving soon. Anyone interested in taking a female Northern DBT?
