All, I have just one month left on my web-building account and I wanted to use this month to update my Diamondback Terrapin website (http://www.geocities.com/dterrapin). However, this time around, I wanted the site to belong to our group and reflect our group’s concensus regarding dbt husbandry, breeding, conservation, etc.. For those of you who have seen the Terrapin Keeper page, I’d like to update it with pics from our files and also create a new Terrapin Breeder page which will advertise the different dbts that breeders in the group will have for sale. At this point, any suggestions, constructive criticisms and sarcasm ala Scott Howard are welcome. Thanks in advance. -Chun

Chun, For some reason (OFS – Old Fart Syndrome), I didn’t realize this was your site. After suggesting that we setup a page like this, I discovered it, and thought that it already had most of what I had in mind. If we could make it reflect the range of theories (hain’t no such thing as experts) from the people in this group, and we were allowed to offer sarcastic suggestions (hopefully Scott wouldn’t be the only one), why that would be just perfect! -Rick Van Dyke Chun-Ming Chew wrote:

I personally do not see how the site can be improved on very much. I have always found it to be the one Diamondback Terrapin site I return to over and over. I would hate to see it go. Or change very much. I am sure there are some people out there who might have pictures they would like added but it is truly an informative and useful site. Is there any specific changes you (Chun) would like to make or any specific information you might be looking for? Jimmy

Rest assured that I will get feedback from everybody before I replace the old with the revised version. I’m sure I won’t be able to please everybody but hopefully most of you will like it and most importantly, I hope it will reflect the concerns, experiences and flavor of this group. As a matter of fact, yes. For one, I would like to add a bibliography, as well as the previously mentioned Terrapin Breeder section. I would like to have the Terrapin Genus section formatted probably in a tabular fashion to enable easy comparison between the different subspecies and also address the proper scientific names of the so-called “ornates” that are being offered. I would also like to add input gleaned from the group on the fresh vs. brackish issue. In addition, improvements to the conservation and link sections are also due as well as additions to Terrapin Keeper (I’ve got some ideas for Scott in this section around a little bit with some Java – sorry all you Java haters! As for information I’m looking for – I wish I had more info concerning hatchlings in the wild and habitat pictures. It wouldn’t hurt either to have more pictures of the lesser photographed subspecies. It’ll be a busy month… Cheers. -Chun
