This year I built a purpose pond for my three aquatic turtles. It is 5m wide, 7m long with a sloping beach area for basking and 1.5m deep at the deepest point. This will be the first year my turtles will have been outside during winter. Can anyone advise me on the procedure please? Many thanks
Do you have the turtles outside right now? If so, they should hibernate naturally without any preparation on your behalf. You will see their activity and appetite start to decrease until they eventually burrow into the substrate for the winter. Not sure how cold it is where you are, but you do want to keep the pond from freezing over – that would be my main concern. -Chun — In diamondbackterrapins@yahoogroups.com, “KerplunKuK”
