should i be worried my ph doesnt get any higher than 7.6? i know ideally it should be close to 8.0. is this an issue? thank you again, Karen
Hey Karen! You are a fantastic Turtle Mom, but you seem to find things to worry about and that can take the fun out of the hobby. IMO, you need to relax a little bit and just enjoy your turtles. As you already know, our turtles are very hardy and the small variations in pH are not going to affect them like it will in a typical fish tank. Many hardy types of fish can even adjust to different pH levels that are not their “ideal” levels, so 7.2, 7.6, 8.4……………….or whatever your pH typically is, your turtles will adjust to and do just fine. Take care and have FUN, Jimbo
Sorry to butt in here….you’re so right about relaxing! I know speaking for myself it’s been intimidating to be responsible for such a mysterious little creature. In my case what began as my kids bringing a baby turtle home has turned into this huge investment of time, energy, money and TLC that I was certainly not prepared for. This group has been invaluable; the sheer amount of knowledge as well as the group’s good common sense has calmed my worries more than once. Plus it’s reassuring to know there are so many people dedicated to caring for terrapins especially since everyone I know thinks I’m out of my mind. worry about a little are very like it adjust to turtles will
