Does anyone have plants growing with their dbt? What I am looking to do is grow some plants that are emmersed (ex. pothos, philodendrons, etc.) The only problem is how do I “pot” the plants so they are emmersed and not submerged? Anyone with experience of this please let me know. thanks mike
Jason WilliamsonFebruary 24, 2002 at 10:01 pm #16771HI, I have 7 eggs incubating since 2/11/02. I have them half submerged in soil in the incubator. I lifted one out and candlelit it on 2/23/02 and saw a few veins and a black dot. Is this about normal for 2 weeks of incubating? Also, THe part of the eggs not burried have turned white while the part of the eggs under the soil are stil a little pink. Is this normal too?? Also, it looks like little tiny drops of dew are on the bottom of the eggs when lifted from the soil, is this normal too? Also, the incubator is very humid. Is it bad to handle the eggs every so often to check on them or is it ok as long as you are careful and don’t turn them over ??? I appreciate any advice. thanks, JAson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports – Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports.yahoo.com
modelgrafx@aol.comFebruary 25, 2002 at 12:14 am #16772Jason, That is normal for fertile eggs incubating at that length of time. Also, I have noticed that only that part of the egg that is exposed turns chalky white. When I have incubated dbt eggs I don’t have my humidity very high I just keep the eggs in a slightly damp covered container with a couple of tiny pinholes in the lid. Do NOT pick up the eggs. You should be able to watch their progress by candling with a pen light type flash light with the room dark. You just shine the light through the side of the egg while it is in the container. Good luck, Vickie (head mod)
