Plastron Question / cracking?!? but not shell rot. help

Ok, so now for about a month and a half roughly my dbt has had a plastron that has been cracking. its most def not shell rot. Im sure its just because he is growing and it kind of feels like wood when wood is chipping. it doesnt come off in pieces and really doesnt chip off when i touch it. I have been applying vita shell in hopes to try and get his pretty belly back to a great smooth colorful look but it just doesnt seem to be going so. Is this simply b/c he is growing or has anyone else ever been through this and have a solution
