i have a female db that is about 13 months old. she is showing the following symptoms – blinking a lot, swollen pink eyes, opens mouth while under the water very widely every so often. does anyone know what could be wrong? i took her to the vet about two months ago for these same reasons, and they put her on generalized antibiotics. i don’t think they knew what was wrong with her. all tests said she didn’t have respiratory problems…but that was a couple of months ago. i thought the symptoms went away, but now have reoccured since i did a full water change today. i know you aren’t supposed to , but i had to re-locate her tank. any advice is welcomed. for the night i put her in a seperate tub with no water and let her dry out (i thought maybe the new water bothered her eyes). thanks!–Lindsay

Did she seem to return to normal in dry dock? Hoping for the simplest solution first, blinking, swollen eyes, and gaping are sometimes seen after a complete water change with high chlorine tap water. Did you use any water treatments to de-chlorinate? If not, draw tap water into some clean buckets or other containers and let it stand overnight to reduce the chlorine effect. Let us know.
