I want to diversify my terp’s diet. So far, I’m planning to introduce carrots and romaine lettuce. How do I prepare it for the turtle?
For red eared sliders I just rinse the romaine and throw it in and they will either devour it immediately or within a few hours. Carrots simply need to be thinly sliced. Terrapins don’t seem as interested in vegetables as cooters and red ears but it is always worth a try. I have noticed especially that younger terrapins will devour almost anything you feed them. I have had a few terrapins eat carrots and romaine. If they don’t go for it but you still want to add the carrots and romaine to their diet you could make a homemade turtle food and incorporate the veggies in while blending up various fish, shrimp, turtle pellets in a food processor. Then you could use a food dehydrator or use clear unflavored gelatin to hold it all together. ,Jasongrndtrn
