I have been fighting an infection within my aquatic turtle population which has now been identified by a culture in at least one individual as a pseudomona. My vet is suggesting treating with Amikacin, which i will do, to see if we can help cure a single isolated individual. If successful, we will treat the general population as well. I am wondering if anyone can suggest any particular water treatment for my outdoor ponds and tanks where some of the infected individuals have been living, i.e accriflavin, formalin that I might suggest to my veterinarian? Anyone have any success battling this bacteria?

Attachments : Oh no, sorry but I’ve been battling the psuedomonas bacteria with my terrapins. Feel free to email me at lisaannlee@… . Unfortunately mine isn’t a happy story but I can tell you a few things I learned. As far as the drug we used, well we started with baytril until the culture came back. Then we tried Cipro, we also did amikacin . Mine have had a long hard fight and became drug resistant. Highly contagious. My first word of advice would be get them out of the infected area and separate them. If were talking pond, oh geez. Email me and I’ll tell you about my experience.
