Jonathan, It is a digital. It is an Olympus Camedia D-360L 1.3 megapixel. It does not have a zoom but does have a close up setting which I use with my dbt pictures. I bought it at Wal-Mart. It think it is great. Vickie
Jonathan, You don’t need a digital camera to take a good photo of a turtle or anything for that matter unless that is the format that you would like and have a good output service or printer. As a photographer I use a lot of different equipment and have found that a good 50 mm macro lens come in handy when shooting smaller turtles and reptiles. Equipment is only as good as the person using it. Remember that and you already have a head start. Price does not always mean quality. If you are serious about a digital camera I have found that the Nikon Coolpix 990 is easy to use and very good for high quality images, among many other such as the Sony and Canon digital cameras. What ever you decide READ THE MANUAL! Take care Dave
