Hello, I am very glad to have a forum on these terrapins. I have a dbt, not quite a year old, who seems fat healthy (and more than a little spoiled) My primary concern with Salty is he absolutely refuses to eat prepared turtle foods. I have literally tried everything the chain stores have and went to Repticon when it was here and bought samples of everything they had to offer. I bought him feeder fish, which now seem to be playmates for him. He will eat snails, raw shrimp, and an occasional piece of romaine lettuce, but his main diet is mealworms and Phoenix worms, and small crickets. I have seven other turtles (he is the only dbt) and no issues at all with feeding. Just wondering if he is getting what he needs. He is a very aggressive eater, so no problems there, and his shell is hard. I just want to make sure he is getting what he needs nutritionally. BTW on one site someone suggested “tough love” and not feed him for several days to see if he would take the prepared foods. Admittedly I haven’t tried that, I don’t have a problem with this diet,, as long as he is getting what he needs.
