Hi Chun and all. I don’t think that Terps much south of Carolinians are really likely to engage in hibernation for any length of time. When I was in S. GA, they were active up into December, and you began seeing them in March. You have to think also of the temps in the areas where they might be hibernating – some days in January there would be in the 70’s (F), and the nights would be mild. As I remember, when I went there in Feb, the water temp near shore was still in the 60’s, and though Terps would be slowed somewhat, they would definitely not (I think) be torpid – probably just hole up and be inactive short term, rather than doing what colder clime turts might do all winter. I got a friend of mine in Georgia and he says on the trails he walks he see’s wild dbt’s all the time I ought to see what he has to say… he keeps snakes and such and may be in tune to when he see’s them and if he thinks they hibernate -robin
