Jonathan, The sex determination period for eggs is during the second trimester between stages 22-28 based on Miller’s (1982) 31 stages of turtle development. Time wise, this corresponds to 30 to 45 days (based on a 60 day incubation) for sea turtles. I hate to admit but I don’t even know the incubation time for d.t. Can some one fill me in?? It is during these stages that the steroidogenic hormones are produced and it is these hormones that determine which steroids are produced, thus determining the sex. I hope this helps. How long after a terrapin lays it’s eggs does it take for the temperature to determine the sex of the egg. Does anyone know? Does anyone else live near the L.A. area? I have looked through the member section only a couple of people have their city listed.
