Hi was just wondering if anyone on here could answer a question i have abour my two red ear sliders? I know this is a group for DBT keepers but i couldnt find a group for RES keepers and wondered if anyone on here could help? Like I say i have 2 RES 3 years old. The thing is on a night time when their basking lamp is swithced off they start to make noises which sounds like they are blowing bubbles in the water. They have just started doing it every night and also this time last year they did the same. I wondered if it was some kind of mating call? As far as i know they are both male. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Clare

My Alligator snapper does the blowing bubbles thing in the water, when I remove him from his tank to change his water. I think they’re hissing, or something underwater, and that makes the bubbles. I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of show of aggression in any case though. Maybe the two males are just trying to establish dominance between one another.
